Why should I choose Polyroof 185 when there are cheaper roof coverings available?
First of all, Polyroof 185 is not a roof covering, it is a complete roofing system. This means that we will fit a new roof deck of high grade exterior plywood onto which the Polyroof GRP system (glassfibre reinforced polyester resin) is applied to form a seamless membrane that is totally impervious to water. It is a premium system, that comes with an insurance backed 20 year guarantee. Yes, you can have your roof recovered in felt for less, but after a few years it will crack at the seams, blister and let in water again. Also once a roof has started leaking it will invariably weaken or rot the substrate. What you get with the Polyroof 185 system is complete peace of mind. Once it’s installed you never need worry about the roof deteriorating or leaking again.

How can I stop water gathering on my flat roof?
Water ‘ponding’ is avoided by building in a slight fall (slope) into your new roof to run off water into the gutters. Your old roof is most likely covered in stone chippings, moss and lichen - which all encourage ponding anyway. There are no stones with Polyroof and it doesn’t attract moss or lichen. Even with your new Polyroof you may see some ponding but don’t worry, Polyroof is totally impervious to water.

What if I sell my home, is the guarantee transferable?
Yes, the Polyroof 185 guarantee is as watertight as the system itself. It is insurance backed and independently administered. Should you sell your house within the 20 year warranty period then let us know and the guarantee will be transferred into the name of the new owner – which is added reassurance to them.

How long will it last?
Your Polyroof will be guaranteed for 20 years but its service life will extend beyond that. In fact the system has been independently assessed by the BBA and is durability-rated for 30 years.

Can I walk on it or use it on a balcony?
Yes. Polyroof 185 provides a tough, durable surface that takes normal foot traffic. It makes an attractive, easily cleaned and 100% waterproof finish for balconies, terraces or walkways, and can be given an anti-slip finish.

Does it work on sloping roofs?
Polyroof 185 was principally developed as a flat roof system, but it is often used on pitched roofs. For example porch roofs or the roofs of sheds, summerhouses and outhouses are often given the Polyroof treatment.

What about the leaking gutters and rotting timbers on my roof?
We’d recommend replacing existing guttering and fascia boards with uPVC. We stock high quality, maintenance-free uPVC roofline products that will complement your new Polyroof.

Do they still build homes with flat roofs?
Very much so. We work with all the main developers and home builders such as Barratt Homes and Berkeley Homes, as well as many self builders, and see a definite trend towards extending living space outdoors - meaning more terraces, roof gardens and balconies. There is also a growing movement in green roofs where a ‘living roof’ (normally of grass or sedum) absorbs pollutants and filters the air. Polyroof makes the ideal rot-free substrate for green roofs.
